Lloyd Poen, 1934Lloyd Poen, 1934Autograph Books Recall School Days

Share a smile, a friendship, a memory – with the Pauline High School scholars of 1931 and 1934, as you browse through the pages of an autograph book of 80 years ago. You’ll be amazed at how different – and how much the same – the students and the times were eight decades ago! The autograph book belonged to Lloyd Poen, a 1934 graduate of Pauline High School. Following graduation, Lloyd attended business college and worked as bookkeeper for a sugar beet factory in Grand Island during the early 1940s. He married Eleanor Olive Thaden in 1943, and the couple farmed in the Pauline area for nearly 50 years before retiring to Hastings. Lloyd passed away in 1995. Photo and autograph books are provided courtesy of Lloyd and Eleanor’s niece, Donna Knight.
